Trotora is built on love for horses and respect for every person in the equestrian world. To keep this a safe and welcoming place for everyone, riders, owners, stables, breeders, and their horses alike, every member agrees to these community standards. Breaking these rules has real consequences.
1. Our community values
Trotora exists to connect equestrians. We share a passion for horses, and that shared passion is the foundation of everything. Every interaction on the platform should reflect care, respect, and responsibility, for each other and for the animals in our lives.
- Treat every person on the platform with dignity and kindness.
- Celebrate diversity: equestrians come from every background, culture, and walk of life.
- Support each other, especially newcomers to the sport.
- Put horse welfare first in everything you share or discuss.
- Be honest and genuine in how you present yourself and your horses.
2. Community rules
The following behaviours are not allowed on Trotora under any circumstances. These rules apply to all content: posts, comments, messages, profile information, images, videos, and any other material shared on the platform.
- Respect everyone
- You must treat all members with respect. Personal attacks, bullying, targeted harassment, threats, or intimidation of any kind are prohibited, whether posted publicly or sent in private messages.
- No racism or discrimination
- Content that demeans, stereotypes, or attacks any person or group based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other personal characteristic is strictly forbidden.
- No sexual content
- Sexually explicit material, nudity, and any sexualised content involving minors is absolutely prohibited. Romantic content must remain tasteful and appropriate for an all-ages community.
- No hate speech
- Content that promotes hatred, violence, or superiority of any individual or group is not permitted.
- No spam or misleading content
- Do not post unsolicited commercial messages, chain content, or deliberately misleading information. Fake profiles, impersonation, and scams are prohibited.
- No illegal content
- Sharing or promoting illegal activities, copyrighted material without permission, or content that violates applicable law is not allowed.
3. Horse & animal welfare
Because Trotora is first and foremost a platform for people who love horses, animal welfare carries special weight here.
- Do not share images, videos, or descriptions of animal abuse or neglect.
- Do not use the platform to facilitate the illegal trade of horses or other animals.
- Training methods shared on the platform must be humane and aligned with established welfare standards.
- If you witness animal abuse, use the report function and contact the relevant authorities.
4. Enforcement & consequences
We believe in giving people the chance to correct their behaviour. Our enforcement follows a clear, proportional policy, but for the most serious violations (animal abuse, sexual content involving minors, direct threats), we may skip straight to permanent deactivation.
| Step | Action | Duration | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st violation | Timeout | 7 days | Account suspended; content hidden. You receive a notification explaining the reason. |
| 2nd violation | Timeout | 7 days | Same as above. Final warning issued. |
| 3rd violation | Timeout | 7 days | Same as above. Account flagged for permanent review. |
| After 3 timeouts | Permanent deactivation | Indefinite | Account deactivated. Content removed. No further access to the platform. |
During a timeout your account is suspended: you cannot post, comment, or send messages. Your profile remains visible, but all of your content is hidden. Once the timeout ends, your account is automatically reactivated.
A 'violation' is recorded when a moderation review confirms a breach of this Code of Conduct. We do not count unverified reports.
5. Appeals
If you believe a moderation action was applied in error, you have the right to appeal. We take appeals seriously and review them carefully.
- Submit your appeal within 30 days of receiving the enforcement notice.
- Contact us via conduct@trotora.com with the subject line 'Appeal: [your username]'.
- Describe why you believe the action was incorrect and include any relevant context.
- We aim to respond within 10 working days.
- Appeal decisions are final.
6. Reporting a violation
Keeping Trotora safe is a shared responsibility. If you see something that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it.
- Use the three-dot menu (⋯) on any post, comment, or profile to report it.
- Reports are confidential. The reported person is never told who submitted it.
- False or malicious reports may themselves constitute a violation.
- For urgent matters (immediate threats, illegal content), contact us directly at conduct@trotora.com.

Child Safety Standards
Trotora is used by riders, stable owners, trainers and young equestrians side by side. Plenty of them are children. These are our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE): what we forbid, how we enforce it, how you report a concern, and how child safety authorities reach us.
1. Our commitment
These standards cover everything on Trotora: profiles, photos and videos, posts and comments, direct messages, group conversations, marketplace listings, and stable and company pages.
They apply to every user. Verified accounts, business accounts and long-standing members are no exception.
2. What is prohibited
The following is forbidden and leads to immediate, permanent removal:
- Child sexual abuse material in any form: images, video, audio, drawings, computer-generated or AI-generated depictions, and text describing the sexual abuse of a child.
- Sexualising a child. This includes comments, captions, hashtags or edits that frame an ordinary photo of a child in a sexual way.
- Grooming: building a relationship with a child in order to sexually exploit them, whether here or by moving the conversation elsewhere.
- Sextortion: threatening to publish intimate material of a child to obtain more material, money or anything else.
- Asking for, offering, trading or advertising child sexual abuse material. Coded language, emoji substitution and links to other sites count.
- Arranging offline sexual contact with a child, including offers of travel, lessons, stabling or work used as a cover.
- Trafficking children, or advertising a child for any sexual purpose.
- Sharing a child's personal details with sexual intent, such as their home address, school, stable or daily routine.
3. Minimum age and young users
You must be 16 or older to have a Trotora account. Where local law sets a higher age for consenting to the processing of personal data, that higher age applies.
Children ride, compete and help around the yard, so they appear in ordinary posts: a competition result, a photo at the stable. That is fine. Three rules keep it that way:
- Get the parent's or guardian's consent before posting a recognisable photo of someone else's child.
- Do not publish details that let a stranger find a child offline, such as a school, an address, or a fixed lesson time combined with a location.
- Do not send strangers more photos of a child on request. Report the request instead.
If we find that an account belongs to someone under the minimum age, we close it and delete the personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
4. How to report
Anything on Trotora can be reported from the app. Open the options menu on the post, message, listing or profile, choose Report, then pick the child safety category. You do not need an account to report: the web form is open to anyone.
- In the app
- Options menu on any post, comment, message, listing or profile, then Report.
- Web form
- trotora.com/report-content, no account needed.
- Child safety contact
- child-safety@trotora.com, for reports about children from anyone, including law enforcement, hotlines and child protection organisations.
Reports about children go ahead of all other moderation work and are read by a trained member of our team, not sorted by automation alone. You do not have to identify yourself.
5. How we act on reports
For a report about a child we follow a fixed procedure:
- The content is hidden from public view the moment the report arrives, before anyone decides on it.
- A trained reviewer assesses it against these standards, with the account's history and any linked accounts in view.
- Confirmed CSAE content is removed and the account is banned permanently, along with other accounts run by the same person.
- The content, account data and relevant logs are kept as evidence for as long as the law requires, also after the account is deleted.
- We report the case to the authorities and, where it applies, to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to national hotlines through the INHOPE network.
- We tell the reporter the outcome if we have a way to reach them and doing so does not compromise an investigation.
An account banned for CSAE does not come back. There is no second chance in this category.
Users whose content is removed can appeal. Our Terms of Service describe how, in line with the EU Digital Services Act. We withhold details where the law requires it during an investigation.
6. Prevention and detection
Reports are not our only line of defence. We also apply:
- A minimum age at registration, with the account closed once we learn the user is below it.
- Moderation review of reported images. We remove content that sexualises a child even where no law has been broken.
- Rate limits and abuse detection on messaging, which make it harder to contact large numbers of users uninvited.
- Blocking and reporting on every profile, so a user can cut off contact at once without waiting for a moderation decision.
- Staff training on grooming patterns and on handling CSAE reports without spreading the material further.
- Retained evidence and account identifiers, so a banned user who registers again can be spotted and removed.
7. Legal compliance
Trotora complies with the CSAE laws of the countries where it operates. We are based in the Netherlands and subject to Dutch and European Union law, including the Digital Services Act.
We cooperate with law enforcement and child protection authorities, and we handle valid legal requests about child safety with priority. Authorities can write to child-safety@trotora.com. Where a formal channel is required, our registered details are in the imprint.
We meet the Google Play Child Safety Standards policy and the equivalent Apple App Store requirements.
